Private investment by 2021
According to the Central Reserve Bank -BCR-, private investment will have a moderate recovery in 2021. Its growth would reach 16%. The main factors that limit investment expectations are (i) health uncertainty due to the second wave of Covid-19 and (ii) the electoral context, especially in the first part of the year. In contrast to what happened in 2020, non-mining investment will be the most affected, as it would only grow by 10%; on the contrary, mining investment is expected to grow by 29%. It should be noted that both factors will be mitigated by the second half of 2021 due to the vaccination campaigns against COVID-19 and the election of new authorities. Finally, it is noteworthy that, in the electoral context, all the candidates agree on the importance of closing the infrastructure gap of more than S / 363 million. In addition, they agree on the need to achieve 100% coverage of water and sanitation services throughout the country, both in urban and rural areas.
